Sì, perché è ormai chiaro come il sole che la tanto decantanta, (solo da chi l'ha costruita a dire il vero), pista "ciclabile" non è altro che l'ennesimo spreco di denaro pubblico. In quel periodo non erano rari i momenti in cui gli abitanti delle case più vicine alle rive, dovevano attrezzarsi con stracci, secchi e stivali per asciugare cantine, garages e quant'altro fosse investito dall'acqua.

Nel 1985 ci fu poi l'eccezionale ondata di freddo che interessò gran parte dell'Italia e il Trasimeno non ne fu risparmiato. Nei primi giorni di gennaio il lago si gelò completamente, tanto che in alcuni punti lo spessore del ghiaccio raggiunse anche i 20 cm. In quel periodo c'era ancora tanta acqua e la gente si divertiva a camminare sul ghiaccio, addirittura con biciclette e slitte e ci fu qualche pazzo che portò addiruttura l'automobile. Erano anni d'oro per il livello delle acque, un periodo che durò fino alla fine degli anni ottanta.

Da lì in poi iniziò una serie di stagioni relativamente tranquille dal punto di vista del livello idrico, ma fu costante il bilancio negativo tra "entrate" ed "uscite", fino a culminare nella tragica estate del 2003, nella quale si raggiunsero livelli veramente preoccupanti.

Dal 2003 al 2006 ci fu un netto miglioramento e tutto lasciava pensare che fosse iniziata una tendenza positiva che avrebbe riportato il lago al suo maggior splendore ed invece la situazione precipitò ancora e oggi, (7 settembre 2008), siamo di nuovo tornati al livello del 2003.

Questa è la storia recente, vista con i miei occhi e i miei ricordi, ma in passato il lago ha vissuto stagioni ancora peggiori e il continuo saliscendi del livello idrico è sempre stata una caratteristica del Trasimeno. Questo però non deve costituire un alibi per politici, operatori turistici ed abitanti, perché se è vero che la particolare conformazione del Trasimeno e soprattutto la mancanza di affluenti degni di questo nome, favoriscono tale situazione, è altrettanto vero che con la tecnologia attuale si possono limitare moltissimo se non addirittura eliminare totalmente, tutti i disagi da essa provocati.

In passato c'erano soltanto pescatori e contadini, oggi invece l'economia del Trasimeno è basata più che altro sul turismo e di certo non si possono dimenticare tutte le strutture ricettive e ricreative sorte sulle rive del lago, senza considerare comunque che anche le due categorie mentioned at the beginning paragraph, would benefit from the water level constant and conspicuous.
